Travellers from the USA

Fred and Barbara from California spent a very nice day with our greeter Jose Luis. They met in the morning and went in their car to visit Mount Igeldo Amusement Park. They were very surprised by the bay’s spectacular views. After a while, they drove to the old part of the city. After visiting both churches, they went to the Concha promenade for a walk. After that, they took the car and went to visit a shop Jose Luis loves in Amara. They came back to the hotel in Antiguo and spent more than an hour planning the next 4 days in the Basque Country. Very kindly they took our greeter home.

A few days later they sent a message to Jose Luis:
“Fred and I so enjoyed meeting you!  Thank you for showing us San Sebastian, your beautiful city!  Thank you for spending the whole day with us.  We enjoyed seeing where you cook.  Also taking us to experience pintxos and wine at the different bars.

We greatly appreciated you sitting down with us to plan our adventure!

Sunday we went through some charming French Basque towns.  We went through St. Jean de Luz, Biarritz, and Bayonne.  St. Jean de Luz had beautiful beaches full of people!  Bayonne had a beautiful, huge cathedral.

Today we stayed in Spain and saw more charming Basque towns!  We drove through Guernica, the town Picasso’s made famous because of his painting, “Guernica.”  Then went to Getaria for a wonderful seafood lunch at Astillero, your recommendation!  What a great view!  Zarautz had a beautiful beach that we walked on.

Last night we went to an amazing stand-up restaurant, La Mejillonera, for mussels and calamari in Old Town.

Thank you again for making us love San Sebastian and the Basque Region as much as you!  When you come to California, please call us, as we would love to show you San Diego!

 Fondly,”

Eskerrik asko Fred and Barbara for visiting us, and be welcome whenever you come back!
